new delhi: The new variant of Corona Omicron has also reached India. Its first two patients in the country have been found in Karnataka. The Union Health Ministry has confirmed this.

Among them is a 66-year-old foreign national, who had gone to South Africa recently, while the other is a 46-year-old health worker from Bangalore. Samples were sent for genome sequencing after both got positive reports. The Omicron variant has been confirmed in its report.

According to the report of NDTV, the travel report of the foreign national in whose report the Omicron variant has been found has been issued by the Bangalore Municipal Corporation. It has been told in the report that the foreign national who had taken both the doses of the vaccine had reached Bengaluru on 20 November with a negative report. Due to his coming from ‘at-risk countries’, RT-PCR test was done at the airport itself.

After that he went to the hotel. He was found positive in the report on the same day. The government doctor went to the hotel and examined him. If no symptoms were found in him during the investigation, he was instructed to self-isolate. His sample was sent for genome sequencing on 22 November.

According to the report, the test reports of all 24 people who came in contact with him came negative. After this, 240 people who came in contact with those 24 people as secondary contacts were tested. All these reports have also been found negative.

The foreign national got the corona test done from a private lab on 23 November, in which the report came negative. After this, on the night of 27 November, he took a taxi from the hotel at 12:12 pm and after reaching the airport, he left for Dubai city of UAE.

Apart from this, the Indian health worker found infected with another Omicron variant has been told that he has received both doses of the vaccine and has no travel history. All the people who came in contact with him have been identified and are being monitored.

ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava told in a press conference on Corona that genome sequencing of infected is being done in 37 labs set up by the Health Department. Of these, Omicron has been confirmed in two samples from Karnataka. We do not need to panic, but awareness is very important.
