Justice Arun Mishra appointed as the head of the National Human Rights Commission

Former Supreme Court judge Justice Arun Mishra on Wednesday took over as the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Official sources gave this information.

The post of NHRC chief was lying vacant since the completion of the tenure of former Chief Justice HL Dattu in December 2020.

Sources said, “Justice Arun Mishra took over the post of Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission from today. One more member has also joined.”

Justice Mishra became a judge in the Supreme Court on July 7, 2014 and retired in September 2020.

Justice Dattu took over as the NHRC chief on February 29, 2016, after retiring as the Chief Justice on December 2, 2015.
