The ministry said that 20,19,773 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday. So far, a total of 35,00,57,330 samples have been tested in the country while the daily rate of infection has been recorded at 6.57 percent. The infection rate has been less than 10 percent for the ninth consecutive day.
The weekly rate of infection has come down to 8.21 percent.
The number of patients undergoing treatment for this epidemic has come down to 17,93,645 which is 6.34 percent of the total cases of infection while the national rate of people recovering from Kovid-19 is 92.48 percent.
In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease in the cases of infection by 1,01,875.
According to the data, the number of patients recovering for the 20th consecutive day has been more than the new cases of infection. The number of people who have recovered from this disease has increased to 2,61,79,085 while the death rate is 1.18 percent.
The number of infected people in the country had crossed 20 lakh on August 7 last year, 30 lakh on August 23 and more than 40 lakh on September 5.
At the same time, the total cases of infection crossed 50 lakhs on 16th September, 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November. In the country, these cases crossed one crore on December 19 and crossed two crore on May 4.
Of the 3,207 people who lost their lives due to this epidemic in the country, Maharashtra had the highest number of 854 deaths. After this 490 people died in Tamil Nadu, 464 in Karnataka, 194 in Kerala, 175 in Uttar Pradesh, 137 in West Bengal and 104 in Andhra Pradesh.
So far 3,35,102 people have died due to corona virus. Of these, 96,198 people died in Maharashtra, 29,554 in Karnataka, 24,722 in Tamil Nadu, 24,299 in Delhi, 20,672 in Uttar Pradesh, 15,678 in West Bengal, 14,649 in Punjab and 13,077 in Chhattisgarh.
The Health Ministry said that out of those who have died so far, more than 70 percent of the patients also had other diseases.
The ministry said on its website that its figures are being reconciled with the ICMR figures.
